Rep. Don Bacon on Sunday warned that “it is potential” that Speaker Mike Johnson might face a vote to oust him if he strikes to move Ukraine support within the Home.
“I am not going to disclaim it,” Bacon, R-Neb., mentioned when requested by NBC Information’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker whether or not it is potential Johnson might lose his speakership over Ukraine support.
“We now have one or two folks that aren’t crew — they don’t seem to be crew gamers. They’d fairly benefit from the limelight, the social media,” Bacon added, although he didn’t identify any members.
“It is a very slim majority, and one or two folks could make us a minority,” he mentioned.
Bacon favors some help for Ukraine and highlighted his partnership with Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine, Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Ed Case, D-Hawaii, on a Ukraine support invoice.
“We put a invoice collectively that focuses on navy support — a $66 billion invoice that gives navy support to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan,” Bacon instructed Welker, calling for a “bicameral, bipartisan resolution.”
“If we do that invoice, and I believe we are going to, there’s sufficient help within the Home to get this performed. And, and I need to guarantee that we’ve got help within the Senate,” Bacon mentioned.
